This depends on the type of modeling you would like to peruse. Examples would be if you are looking to do spokes modeling, get a head shot and some full shots in business attire.

A runway model you would start by doing some runway modeling at a mall and get some photos of that. Fashion model would require a head shot with shots of fashion modeling. A parts model (like hands) you would want some hand shots displaying rings and jewelery and such. Nude modeling you would want to get some tasteful nude photos take.

Check out www.onemodelplace.com. There are examples there from beginners to pros.

Headshots in black and white, some candid shots in color. You'll need to have several different hair, clothing and make-up styles in order to show your versatility.

Be careful. A lot of agencies are not legitimate. You would do best to go ahead and talk to someone about needing a manager. Managers not only promote you, but they check out if places needing models are legit.

    Good luck!

Find a model agency close to you and see what they want to start or what their ideas are. Lots of girls start modeling in Europe because it's tougher in the US is to get going.
