How do I start a business with little or no capital?

I have a great idea about starting a business to service corporate companies with boquets of fresh and beautiful flowers in lobbies and for weddings.

How should I go about starting this without haveing to spend to much money?

I would strongly recommend that you talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. You have to determine whether you'll start a web based business or one with a store front. I'd call the local office of SCORE (go to and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE.

The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a flower bouquet business and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the customers you'll concentrate on (your market ) and how you'll go after them.

You'll need to register the business with your state controller's office and make sure that you have any city and county licenses if any are needed where you live. All of this will come out in a business plan.

Try this link : and read some of the articles especially the ones about a business plan and starting a business.

    Good Luck

Start off by making up flyers that state your services and fees as well as specials that you are running. Mail or pass those out to the companies you are targeting. Be prepared to work a side job with a paycheck and run your business on the side as well. Make up a web address also to spread the name of your company, you can design one for 15 $ or less on yahoo small business. Marketing and PR is going to be the toughest for you so be prepared. Maybe have some pictures of the samples that you are selling to show business owners etc.... Give them incentives to come to you like buy one get one free or free delivery etc....

Starting a business, you need a catchy name of course, think of one and then go to the court house and get a DBA "doing business as" and get you tax ID ready, also from the court house, and open a separate business account. All this can be done with 30 $ or less. Be prepared to work harder than all your friends, it takes 2-3 years for a business to take off and you will probably not see a profit from this for at least 2-3 years and be prepared to work a side job to keep your business alive until it takes off.

how about becoming a independent distributor in a large network marketing company. Hours are very flexible in that you work when you want, for how long you want and where ever you want. The one I am involved with gives back 73cents in every dollar to their distributors through retail, wholesale profits and bonuses/royalties. You can do business in 65 countries around the world right from your own home. There is only a very small startup cost. There is some selling but you don't really have to deliver as this can be done for you by the company from their warehouse. I have been in this business for only 3 months and have already tripled my income and work much less hours than i used to. My mentor earns about $130k a MONTH, not year, a MONTH. His name is Kim Broemer from Perth, Western Australia and if you wanted to be involved in this business you can speak directly him or myself or anyone else in the business. If you want to promote your service online, build yourself a solid website that actually works! There's a company that can provide you with all the tools, instructions, technical know-how and encouragement you need.

The start up cost is low, $299 for the whole package which includes a full years top quality web hosting. And it works! I know this because that's how I set up my website. There's no tricks or gimmicks and it's not some GRQ scheme that will leave you back where you started, but with less money! (there's even a money back guarantee)

Read my story at and also check out the link below.

Best of luck with your venture, it sounds like a great idea!

    1. Idenfity companies that has a need. or better yet, you introduce the ideas to these companies by creating the need. for example set-up small booth during valentines day, fathers day, mothers day, etc.

    2. create a qoutation with colorful pics of your actual desined or arranged flowers.

    3. categorize the events in companies that requires flower arrangements.

    4. highlight promos that you can offer, or value added services if they will sign a contract from you.

    5. Send out to events, marketing or human resource divisions.

Hope this may help. Good luck!
