Will the Yankees Be in The Playoffs?

The yankees had a bismal start. Their pitching and hitting were terrible. When this lineup was posted in spring training, it was designed to score alot of runs. That didn't happen. The yankees were 14.5 games back at one point. But to put it simply, since the "HA" game, the yanks have been palying much better baseball. They have the best record in baseball since the all star break. Every hitter is hitting and scoring runs. Their bench has greatly improved with Giambi, Duncan, Molina, and Betemit. Their bullpen has been improved with Proctor leaving, and Chamberlain coming w/ explosive stuff. Rivera has been what the yanks expected. Starting pitching, Mussina is gettin on track, clemens has been consistent, pettite, has pitched better than his record. wang, the ace. hughes, up/coming. Boston hasn't totally lost it, but they have been 'floating" not playing great baseball but not teerrible baseball. Will the Yankees continue this surger and make the playoffs whether the East or wild card

The Yankees are closer to the Red Sox now than ever before, and they are playing some good baseball. They put their pitching together, as you said, with Joba, Hughes, Wang, Mussina, Pettite, and Clemens with the two rookies exceeding expectations. Although everybody expects the Yankee lineup consisting of big hitters to score runs early in the year, it did not work out that way, but finally it has. The addition of Duncan and Betemit have greatly impacted the improvement in hitting. Both of them are hitting quite a lot of home runs, and it's very good for the Yankees. Rivera just blew a save, but he has been very good. Boston had an almost no-hitter with Wakefield on the mound, and that's showing something. Gagne wasn't as good as they expected, but since they have other big pitchers (Dice-K, Beckett, Papelbon...) it'll be alright for them. Hopefully the Yankees could catch them. They are 4 games behind and have won 9 out of the last 10 games. They are in a 4 game winning streak. the Yankees seem almost unstoppable. They are 1st in the AL wild card right now, but Seattle's game hasnt finished. I'm very hopeful that they will get into the playoffs. The Mariners are their closest competitor in the wild card race, and they are doing very well. So, the Yankees still have a lot of work ahead of them. They have 44 games left in the regular season, and should use that limited time well.

Yeah, the Red Sox will choke soon. The Yankees will win the East, Cleveland will win the Wild Card and eventually the World Series.

Yet again, the Red Sox fall short. They will never know what hit them and after 162 games, the Yankees will have a 5+ game lead. The Red Sox have 4 games in Chicago against the White Sox next, then go to the Bronx for a 3 game set, which will likely pull the Yankees into the lead or a tie. After next week, the Yankees will be in first place for the rest of the season.

Yes....if Bobby Abreu and Robinson Cano can stay hot. If Mike Mussina can consistently give them 6 solid innings every time. If Roger Clemens can have 4 more quality starts and the offense can give him some run support. If Mariano Rivera doesn't blow any more saves. If Damon can continue to produce at DH. If Wang can lead the staff and Pettite can be a solid #2. After all that then yes

absolutely, because they finally have young, home grown players, something they needed since the 1996-2000 teams.

These fine young players include Cano, Cabrera, Phillips, Duncan, Wang, Hughes, and Chamberlain, who will all be on the team hopefully for their entire careers. The yankees have young pitching, the one thing they needed in this millenium. These guys are great now and the best is yet to come.

yes. Their gonna keep doing amazing and Boston not so much and their even gonna sweep Boston in late August. This is gonna cause the Yankees to be in first and keep this lead till the end of the season. Boston will be back about 3 games or 4 and will win the wild card. and to all those people who dont think the Yankees will make it, its the ******* Yankees, their getting into the playoffs no matter what. and if they dont win the division then their winning the wildcard.

you also need to look at the teams the yanks have played.

the only real decent team is the indians and they have been slumping.

with the upcoming weeks, we will see if they are contendors or pretendors
