    The determinant of a 3x3 matrix

    [a b c]

    [d e f]

    [g h i]

    is aei+bfg+cdh-gec-hfa-idb,

    so

    (14*8*5) + (-13*-1*-10) + (0*3*-2) - (-10*8*0) - (-2*-1*14) - (5*3*-13) =

    560 - 130 + 0 - 0 - 28 - (-195) = 597

    Expand along third column:

    0(det 3 8 /-10 -2) - (-1)(det 14 -13/-10/-2) + 5 det (14 -13/ 3 8)

    = 0 + 1(14*-2 - -10*-13) + 5(14*8 - 3*-13)

    etc
