One pissed off Marine...?

Earlier today a guy (screen name: giantcock5003), answered boy who is 14 who wants to join the Marines when he is of age tellin him to "wait on tables" rather than join. I emailed him and told him as an ex-Marine I am offended by his comment.

HIS REPLY: And where do you parrallel the skills of shooting at people while firing mortars, .155 howitzers, calling in JDAMS or puff the magic dragon, LRRP's, UDT, etc. in the civilian world? There isn't a big call for it. But the world does need people to bring them dinner.

MY REPLY: I parrallel those skills at work everyday THATS where. I use those skills each and everyday and it's my Marine Corps background that makes me what I am today and enable's me to excel at what I do. My leadership, my ability to work as a team, my ability to "adapt and overcome" adversity were all taught to me in the Corps. These are skill sets that cannot and WILL NOT be taught serving a plate of cold food or re-filling people drinks!

Update:

Now, you threw alot of acronym's and references around in your email so I am assuming one of two things 1) You served in the military or 2) You looked them up online. All I can say is that if you served time in any branch of the armed forces, that branch should be ashamed that an ungrateful, disrespectful POS like you ever wore their uniform. Think of all those soldiers that were KIA that wore the same uniform as you, and died to give you the FREEDOM to write about the military the way you do. If it wasn't for them, you'd find yourself hiding in a cave to avoid being stoned in public for saying what you have said, or worse yet have your family kidnapped because you said something derogatory. For you to say these people that gave their lives so you could speak freely should have just gotten a job waiting on tables rather then fight... makes me wanna puke! You are worthless!

Update 2:

So does anybody have my back? Am I right? If so, tell him so, his name is at the top... email him!

Update 3:

In the angry, irritated state I was in when I typed this question, I mistakenly referred to myself as an "ex-Marine". As we all know, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" and I cannot go back and correct the error. It makes me sick to even look at it, so any Marines or former Marines that may read this... yes I feel a certain amount shame.

You can't let every one get to you like that my man. So what if he was a former soldier or a poser or just a wacky guy the bottom line is that you did serve and that mean that you promised to protect all the citizens in this great country and yes even the ones that don't support the troops. We as soldiers should be more than OK that people us there Constitutional rights even its they are against us. We pledged to the Constitution to protect it against all enemy's. We don't have to like being protested against it but we should fight for there right to be able to protest against it.

Well I'm running on and on bottom line if you see this guy out on the streets throat punch him and drive on with your life.

Some people don't get it. If someone wants to join any branch of the services, but gets told to wait tables instead, that person either has serious issues or has never been man enough to do it them self.

You have every right to be upset. Heck, I'm upset for what that guy said, and I'm only a civilian.

What you have learned in the marines is actually life skills that will able you to have a more full filling life then that crackpot who thinks waiting tables for a living will teach you great leadership skills.....lol

And i can say that because i used to wait tables. And my brother did serve for the armed forces. He's 5 yrs younger then me, and has better life skills then i do.

But anywho's don't take what people like that have to say to heart. They have no respect for themselves, let alone for anyone else. They go around thinking that they know how this world works, just because they have sat on the couch and watched every rerun of M*A*S*H and the family guy.

Making money selling pot and counting the cash doesn't make you a smart one. So just blow it off, and anything else that anyone has to say to you that bashes your way of life, and the job that you did.

Listen bro, don't get worked up by it. He's an e-thug. He thinks he can talked trash all he wants, but that's only because he hiding behind his computer. He's probably like 5 foot 8, weighing in at a buck 60 soaking wet. So all he has to go by is trying to get you worked up. Tell him that if he has a problem and wants to work in out in person, you can meet up. And then you can show him what else you learned as a Marine ;).

Because I get the same crap too. People e-mail me who are pissed at my posts and start saying stuff like, "I'm gonna kick your ***, you're probably some little kid who got bullied in school, yadda, yadda, yadda". So I just write back, "Hey, thanks for assuming everything", and that's that. If they were real men, they'd stand up instead of hiding behind their computers, punching angry messages into their keyboard. So just remember this, you know you're right. Some little punk on Yahoo! Answers isn't going to change your opinion, or the worlds'. So laugh at him and move on.

Oh, and if for some reason you see him in person, just knock him the **** out.

I am also a former marine, i read the original post from the 14 yr old before this yahoo posted.

All I can say is his screen name says it for his personality.

Perhaps I am shallow, but I have come to believe that unless you were a marine you really do not comprehend them 100%.

My marine corps training has changed my life and work ethics sud-consciencly and in past jobs really made me stand out in excellence with no effort.

Blow this cupcake off ... he prob got rejected at the USMC recruiters office and thats why he is so bitter

Support the 14yr old...no matter what branch he ends up in

With you 100% and thank you for your service. I would bet this guy only dreams that he could cut it as a member of the armed forces but is just not physically and/or mentally acceptable. So he sits and reads "Mercenary" magazines or stories about it. Maybe he watches "Mail Call". He obviously has a chip on his shoulder. To bad we can't meet him somewhere and help knock that chip off his shoulder.

As a former Marine, I use my military training in my everyday life. Working in a manufacturing enviorment of high tech NAS/SAN systems, my basic electronic training began in the Marine Corps.

I am a well respected technician on my shift. My boss love my work because I am will to go the extra distance to get the job done and done right the first time. My need and drive for excellence was instilled in me day one of boot camp. I help motivate people to do better at their job in all that work around me. I especially notice my performace under high stress conditions where I am able to stay calm, keep a clear head and not get rattled by distractions.

All given to me by my Corps.

My wife loves what the Corps has given to me because I am fiercely loyal to her and our family. Always keeping a fair and just mind while I provide for them. She sleeps soundly due to the fact that 'affairs' are a form dishonor and I could never bring myself to commit such an act.

Would I have learned these things 'waiting tables'??

There are so many ignorant hateful people in the world don't let it bother you. He is entitled to his opinion no matter how rude, stupid, and disrespectful. But there are those who love the armed forces and offer them the respect they deserve so thank you. If you allow people like that to upset you will never be happy because, sadly they are alot of people like that around.Chalk it up to the media misinforming masses with all the negativity and fake footage or exploitation of negative things. Besides what about his name lets you know he had good character in the first place?

I guess you never learned in the marines not to whine and complain so much! You don't seem to be able to adapt to this mans response very well! I think you need a refresher course and will have to re up and serve another tour or two! You have clearly displayed why most people will never consider the marines as a viable selection choice. Give it up and give it a rest while your a jar head!
