Pittsburgh is a very family friendly city. I'd definitely recommend a trip to the Carnegie Science Center and UPMC Sports Works on the North Shore which is just down the road from the sports stadiums. It's all included on the same admission and can fill a whole day of fun that everyone will enjoy.

The Pirates are a terrible baseball team but PNC Park is consistently rated the best ballpark in the country for good reason. It's beautiful, has great food, great views of the game and the city, and the tickets are cheap.

There is also the Children's Mueseum, The Warhol, The Phipps Conservatory, and The National Aviary

And you HAVE to go for a ride on The Just Ducky Tours - call for reservations (412) 402 -DUCK

My parents and extended family are originally from there, and we'd spend vacations there three or four times a year.

The Pittsburgh Zoo is a nice attraction, as well as Station Square. Make certain you ride their landmark, the Duquesne Incline. On top of Mt. Washington, there are overlooks for picturesque views, as well as a few restaurants and such.

Go to Point State Park. Eat at the top of Mount Washington and go to PNC Park for a game. I think those are good things.
