I think of people on rafts leaving Haiti to gain refugee status in the United States.

Is their journey more important than their destination?

I think of people put on trains to concentration camps. Is their journey important at all, more than, less than, the camps?

I think of people sold to others, sent shackled in ships to foreign lands.

And I think of 21 hour plane flights to places like Africa and to Asia, and how I hate those flights, and I KNOW without a doubt that my destination is/was far more important.

But, Sailcat, I think of the other meaning, the one behind your words: Is the process more important than the product? Is the act of creating more important than the creation? Is any working hard and joyfully at something more important than the result of that work?

And I ask myself is the act of operating more important than saving the life of another? Was painting the Mona Lisa more important than the painting? Is any act of giving, struggling for a cause, dying for a belief more important than the salvation of the people or the faith, itself?

    It's a wow-tough question, for sure.

And I can only conclude that no matter which is more important, enjoy the process; live in the process, because the journey is real, and the destination, the product, if reached, until reached, is only a "consummation devoutly to be wished." *

I think the destination is important, but it also depends if it is your own destination. However, the journey is what make the destination meaningful. For example : if the destination is your work place, your ex- partner's house or a funeral home for someone's funeral then the journey would be differ from the one you make to the other sort of destinations such as your loved one's home, your house, or a bank where you go cash the money. But you can make those journey a lesson, fun, smooth, effective and cost you as little as possible, isn't it? I don't know if the analogy works but I hope you understand.

To arrive at the destination one needs to set out on the journey. But what point is the journey if there be no destination? - and most ARE on a journey without a destination, consciously at least.

well without the destination there would be not journey. i would call them equal. the lessons on the journey is what make us who we are but we only take the journey based on our destination.

i vote for the destination being most important.

Yes, because in the end it is you just may find that the journey was the destination.

Yes, the journey is the most important because it`s how you get to your destination.

I would say yes because no matter what destiny you are into without you making a journey destination is impossible. How can someone reach a point without passing through it? Good Question!

i think so. on the journey we learn something new, every step of the way. we reach our destination only when the journey ends. if you know what i mean.
