Are personal stun guns legal to own for self-protection in South Carolina?
As a disabled senior living alone, owning one for my personal protection would make me feel more secure. I would have no problem disabling an intruder, but definitely would not own a gun except for target (inanimate) practice.

I have taken a quick look at the South Carolina State firearms laws and done a quick search of the legislative web site. But stun guns aren't firearms.
Here is a link.
I didn't find anything there that indicated a stun gun would be a controlled weapon. If I were you I'd contact my local representative, or State Police barracks. My gut feeling is that your answer will not be a simple yes or no. I'm a resident of Pennsylvania and up here, 20 years ago, Stun guns above a certain power level where restricted to law enforcement only.
