Written in crayon?

Is "written in crayon" an expression that has a special meaning? If so, what does it mean?

    It means that's a raw version, not finished, not checked, not shaped for good...I suppose...

    If I am not mistaken it means something that is so simple that a child could understand it. Hence the term "written in crayon" just like small children would use to write something.

    If someone wrote something important in crayon, that means they had nothing else to write with and they didn't care.

    I think it is a perjorative, implying that the message is child like rather than adult.
