What exactly is an ACH withdrawl from a checking account. Is it an automatic withdrawl from your account each month?

ACH stands for Automated Clearing House which is the national electronic network for financial transactions.

Every time you authorize an electronic debit from your account to pay a bill, whether it is one-time or on a reoccuring basis, and if you opt for direct deposit of your paycheck from your employer, it goes through ACH.

This is an automatic electronic debit, or withdrawal from your account, and it is done on a regular basis, usually to pay a bill. Only you can authorize this, and only you can stop it.
