I just received 8 points. How does one receive 8 points?

I know we get 10 points for Best Answer, 1 point for each "thumb's up" for that answer, 1 point for logging on to YA each day, 1 point for each vote, and 2 points to answer a question. But 8 points?

Check your "Activity Details" tab in your Y/A profile. Click on your avatar on the far left corner of most Yahoo Answers pages OR click on the "My Profile" link on the far, upper right corner of the page. This takes you to your Y/A profile page.

It will tell you the last 6 actions on your account and may reveal the reasons behind your 8 points.

This is only one possibility:

You received two Best Answer's (20 pts).

You received a Violation for an answer and it was deleted (-10 pts for the violation and -2 pts to take back the point for the answer, total -12 pts).

20 - 12 = 8
