BJJ is so dominant that I would challenge the founder of TKD himself just prove how much we BJJ practitioners kick ***! TKD is not best martial art...if you search videos of TKD vs other martial arts, they get their asses beat...BJJ and Muay Thai are all you need!

I've studied TKD (yellow belt), Kenpo Karate (blue belt), and BJJ (blue belt).

Even though BJJ doesn't have any striking. TKD is an Olympic sport that focuses on points sparing. Form my experience (and why I quit to start taking kenpo) TKD practice forms and a lot of flashy kicks that to not provide much for self-defense.

Once I attended a TKD competition once watched lots of black belts doing very complicated flashy jumping spinning kicks that when connected (which was rare) were very weak strikes. All these flashy kicks would just leave the TKD would open for a take down where the BJJ guy would easily win.

If your asking what a better striking class would be, Kenpo, Maui Tai, and Krav Maga, would be the best at working your stand up game.

without going through the ever popular depends on the person, which it does. Bjj all the way. I would bet on a white belt in bjj over ANY rank in Tkd, and I truly believe that. Bjj is trained by a diff. type of person. They usually are for real, while most other ma's train for kata, or some other reason rather than truth. Although bjj isn't the same as mma a lot of bjj guys/gals do it for mma, like myself. Bjj is on a level beyond most martial arts today. It is just a hard, cold fact. You take a bjj guy against 90% of any other styles and the bjj guy will come out the better fighter. I would say that in Tkd there is a .001% chance of defeating a bjjist. Of course there is always a blind chance of fate.

All else being equal, e.g. about the same length of time training, about the same health and age, etc. AND assuming that the environment is neutral, I'd go with the BJJ fighter. He is far more likely to succeed in taking the fight to the ground (where the TKD fighter has no chance), than the TKD fighter has of scoring a one-hit knockout (which he's going to need to avoid the takedown).

That said, in a real (i.e. NOT in a ring) fight, it's often the guy who has the awareness to use the nearest solid object to beat his opponent senseless who wins--regardless of style.

It would depend on the fighters, and how they fair with opposing ranges.

Tae Kwon Do is mostly the striking ranges of foot and hand technique. BJJ is mostly ground-fighting.

If the Tae Kwon Do fighter can avoid the ground: He might fair well. If the BJJ fighter doesn't fair well against heavy strikers, then it can be even worse for him.

Likewise, if the TKD fighter has no ground defense/experience: The fight might end when he gets there.

    BJJ without a doubt!

Doesn't anyone here watch MMA? Geez you guys... If a BJJ fighter wants to take a fight to the ground, he WILL. Tae kwon do fighters don't have the wrestling background to avoid being taken down, plain and simple.

If a BJJ fighter wants to take you down, gain the full mount and smash your face in, he will!

What? Is there a challenge to beat a Tae Kwon Do guy?

i hate when people say that it all depends in the fighter, its true, but in general BJJ will kick most TKD guys asses, say if you got the best 100 tkd fighters vs the best 100 BJJ fighters of the same weight, BJJ will rape TKD 10 times over
