How can I make my ex-husband pay his child support?
I have processed the paperwork through the courts to make him pay child support but its been a year and not one dime. he didnt show up for the first court date that was issued and now their is a warrant for his arrest, they have his social and current address but nothing is happening. I just recently went back to the courts and enforced the matter and again nothing is happening. The Child Support system in DC sucks. I plan on enrolling my daughter in a private pre-school and I really need the money so that we will not have to struggle. What else can I do?

put some heat on the case, by pulling rank.
well the honor system doesnt work, thats been proven. its also why the state and federal government passed stronger laws for child support; they are TIRED of people not paying for their children.
the arrears still keep adding up.
1) call your caseworker and ask:
--request an enforcement hearing.
--where you apply for interest on the arrears?
--was the case submitted for tax refund intercept?
--was the arrears reported to the credit reporting agencies yet?
--ask why they have not taken his drivers license away yet?
--ask why they have not put liens on his bank accounts yet?
--ask why there has not been a warrant issued yet?
2) sit down and write a letter. in it, give your contact info, case number, his info, arrears amount, the problem and ask them what they are doing about it.
keep the letter short, its more effective that way.
then take that ONE letter and FAX it to the following:
a) your states Attorney General (link is below)
b) your states Governor (link is below)
c) your states Regional FEDERAL Child Support Office (link is below)
phone calls are useless; they are ignored, denied and forgotten. mail ends up on someones "to do" pile, but FAXES are effective. its proof you sent it and proof they recieved it, therefor, they HAVE to address it. if you cant find a fax number (most are listed online) then just call them and ask for it.
if you hear nothing in a week, fax them again. fax them weekly if need be. its the squeaky wheel that gets the oil, if ya know what i mean. WHO CARES if you miff ‘em off, just keep at them until the problem is addressed.
3) Report his azz to the IRS (in writing), for he’s supporting himself, somehow. Tell them you strongly suspect him working under the table to avoid a child support order.
4) Report his azz to the Social Security Office if he’s been using others SS#.
4) post his DEADBEAT FACE ON A DEADBEAT SITE ONLINE.

"He got on drugs real bad and pretty much sold everything he had to support his habit." If you suspect drug use/being drug affected while he's looking after you son, ask CPS for a mandatory drug test. That may help with any Visitation issues. They won't allow unsupervised visitation if that proves to be the case. "I don't trust him alone with our son, so therefore I don't let him see him." But he lives with his parents. Are they capable/willing to supervise the visitation? Or are they into the same sort of life style? Would you trust them? As to the non-support there's little you can do if he's not working, but be aware that the non-payment amount keeps accruing (if you let the relevant authorities KNOW its not being paid), and interest is added, and should he (ever) return to work, you can have it deducted until the balance is paid. "His name has also been brought up in two robberies." The fact that he is suspected isn't enough to deny him his rights. If he is arrested and/or charged that's a different story. Moral - go through the RIGHT CHANNELS and be seen to be doing the right things, always and only IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD.

Hire an attorney! I don't know about DC but in Illinois, they can tax his income tax check, they can also revoke his drivers license. But, an attorney can give you much better answers about dead beat dads then we can here. Sorry, this is happening to you. Just happens that our courts are filled with cases like this and it takes sooooo long to get anything done. But if you don't stay on top of it nobody else will. Good Luck, I hope they really get him good.

well, i was going to say to go get a layer, but it seems you've already tried taking it up with the court & that brought you know where.
& without the court, there really is no way to make him.
It seems to me that he is MIA.
Or maybe not, do you mean they have his address & stuff but aren't doing anything about it or they have his address & all that info but they can't find him.
If they have his address & social security # & he isn't MIA then you should bring it up to a higher court system .
i hope everything works out!

you can't get blood from a stone, hon.
the courts all over the united states are searching for thousands of men who refuse to report income and pay child support, so you're not alone
would it be nice if there were a 12-Step support group for women who don't receive child support?
i hope they catch up with your ex soonest. xo

If you are able, file for any type of assisstance you can get. Seems when they owe the State instead of us, The State is a bit more aggressive on getting the dead beats to pay. Male or female.

threaten him by saying pay the child support or something is coming back at him. then think of something evil to do to him.
