In a lot of articles on running I see the appreviation PR, what does this stand for?

    It stands for "Personal Record". As others noted, 'PB' as in "Personal Best" means the same thing. I don't think I will insult your intelligence and explain what a personal record is. Personally, I like the sound of 'PR' more than 'PB'.

    You will see both PR or PB

    PR = Personal Record

    PB = Personal Best

    Personal Record (or in other sports most often meaning "personal best") it's the best time they've had for that particular distance.

    personal record, your fastest time in a running event or your highest jump in high jump or something like that of all time.
