Yes - The first hybrid electric vehicles were produced by Ferdinand Porsche. Later other car manufacturers improved on the concepts which were introduced by Porsche. The real boon for the hybrid automotive industry began during the 1990s. At this point the predecessors to the popular HEVs (hybrid electric vehicles) were introduced to the public. To provide customers with new ways of conserving fuel costs many new developments in this range of cars is constantly being explored.
