IMPORTANT!!! check the Committee for Safety of Foreign Exchange Students and read the tips from former exchange students. Check out the placement agency on Guidestar and see who owns it, how much money the company makes, who is the Board of Directors - Be Careful! On Guidestar, put in name of agency, then go to advanced search, the go down the page and find the 990 forms and look at those

Are you still in high school? If so, check with your guidance counselor, and he should have info. I was an exchange student for just a summer in Belgium. There is a lot of paper work, inteviews, and of course, MONEY, that you will need to address. Good luck! It is an awesome experience!

One way to do this would be to get your undergraduate degree in your home country and then go to graduate school abroad. That works best if the graduate school country is the USA or Canada.

at the college level, you simply select a host country that your school has a program with and apply. usually there are some prequesites (i.e. good grades, money, good standing citizen). Almost all colleges have a study abroad office.
