One centimetre is 0.39 inches. Call it four tenths of an inch or about one third of an inch..
0.7 cm would be seven tenths of that, which would be about one fifth of an inch. One fifth of an inch is about the size of a grain of corn.
This is approximate. If you want to do it out using your calculator or slide rule, or figure out the fractions, you will get a more accurate number, but when you ask to equate it to the end of a pencil or an apple seed, I'm assuming an approximation is all you require, so this was done in my head.
