I'm lost, why do christens act the way they do??

i'm wiccan and have been for 16 years, befor this i was christen, as being on both sides, i'm lost on how christen act to other that do not belive the same as them Christ, having noted the faith and righteousness of a Roman centurion, a Pagan, proclaimed:"Assuredly I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 8:10-12)

why do you juge us when you own book says

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." (Matthew 6:14-15)"For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with thesame measure you use, it will be measured back to you." (Matt

i'm adding more here in a sec

But the Wiccans, you will say, do not have faith in God. Yet by their own theology, they certainly do. Those who call them Satan- worshippers are entirely wrong. They do not worship Satan, or even believe that Satan exists. Instead, they worship a Goddess and a God whom they understand as manifestations of a higher and unknown Deity.

Now if you are a Christian, this will sound familiar to you, and it

should. In the Bible we find the following:

"Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, `Men of

Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as

I was passing through and considering the objects of your

worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.

Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I

to you" (Acts 17:22-23)

so i'm lost i'm not jugding your brlife i belive we worship the same god, i truly want to know why do feel the need to slander, make us lost jobs, and homes, and so on

Pssh...Christians! In order to better understand why the Christian religion is the way it is, you must study it's history. ALL religions evolve, and even change doctrine depending on current world events, and what the leaders of the church are trying to accomplish. Take the christian devil for instance...accoring to even Christian Theologists, the concept of the devil was not brought into play until the beginning of the Middle Ages when The Vatican began converting the Gaelic tribes in Northern Germany, England, and Ireland. The pagan god at THAT time became the visual ideal of Satan.

Religious doctrine has always come about to try and explainwhat science could not...even the Pagan philosophy of everything being made of Air, Earth, Fire, Water...and some believe a fifth element...was regarded as scientific fact in Ancient Greece...not a part of the pagan religion at the time. As science discovers more of the universe, people fear change and as such cling to things they "know" and it becomes part of their faith.

People also have the bad habit of beleiving whatever they are told. If you were taught your colors incorrectly for most of your childhood, you would still understand the colors and the differences, just not in line with everyone else...which would make you a pariah. Most neo-pagans today flock to this religion as a means to try and understand the world, life and death in a manner that is the ONLY way that allows them to explore ideas outside of the bounds that society has placed and has deemed "wrong", even though most Christians will tell you..."Yes, parts of the religion is wrong the way it is taught due to centuries of mis-translation."

Is their 1 solitary god? Is 'he' the Christian god? We will never truly know the answers to these and many other questions until death...I once had the chance to sit down with a Catholic Arch-Bishop...He told me "No, the faith is by no means whole or even completely correct, but we have done our best to preserve it as best we can. I feel as long as we do our best in life, and follow the moral teachings, God will forgive our misinterpretations."

The moral of this...NO religion is correct...as long as we treat each other with respect and allow them the freedom to have faith in whatever they wish...the basic morals are the same, regardless of how they are worded. In summation..."Can't we all just get along."

    Dear Ravenness 23,

Your question is asking why Christians act the way that they do. Being that you seem to know the Bible a bit-- i am sure you know what the Bible has to say about witchcraft and that the only way to have a relationship with God is through His Son Jesus.

In answering your question i want to say a couple of things. First not everyone who claims they are a Christian are. In Matthew it also says that one day there will be those who call him: "Lord,Lord and he will say i never knew you."

Being a Christian means following Christ. And i think that in your time as a Christian you may have noticed Christians who displayed actions and attitudes which were not Christ-like and this does not make Christ false. Whether those are true believers are not are between them and God- they may be very bad examples of Christians.

All this to say that there are also Christians who truly follow and display the love of God.

i think on Yahoo answers especially we've all seen some answers from those who call themselves Christians who seem very un-Christ like.

Jesus says to speak the truth in love. So it means that Christians do have to tell people that Jesus is the only way- but they can do in a loving manner.

The passage you quoted in Matthew what it means not to judge- is not to pass final judgment on people. I've seen so many people come to Christ who you'd never thought would be the type of person who would come to Christ. Or the story of the woman caught in adultery- people would say what a "whore, etc." but Jesus saw her heart and redeemed her. And Jesus will redeem any heart.

I'm sorry that you've had some bad experiences with Christians and i do hope that you will encounter Christians who truly display the love of their heavenly Father.

Its less about religion and more about to control other people. Religion is just mearly a tool. Your different, not in the same click/group, so you are out casted. The more people in one religion will have a larger hate group to a opposing group. Neither one is right, neither one is wrong to a outsiders point of view.

Only the radical christians are the one talked about in the end paragraph. The more modernized christians, and the more modern Wiccan's can actually get along. Both have their issues with each other, just like the Whites and Blacks in America. Ever since the beginning when Wiccan and Christian met they have had fights, shedding blood shed for many many years.

Claire did appear tonight with a warning to Kate. But remember, that was only in Kate's dream, so it wasn't really Claire's ghost. Yes, I agree Claire seemed really weird when she was in the cabin with Christian Shepherd, but I'm thinking she is probably alive. I know Desmond had that vision of her getting on a helicopter with the baby, but we know that Aaron already gets off the island as part of the Oceanic 6, so I'm a bit confused as to the credibility of the vision.

Some Christians unfortunately don't know how to listen. Paul was listening to the philosophers of the day and was able to tell them about the unknown God that they instinctively knew existed. Sorry that Christians have left a bad impression on you. I think you'll find that not everyone is cut from the same cloth.

I'm a Christian, but I've never tried to cause someone who believes differently from me to lose their jobs or homes. I'm truly sorry if this has happened to you. I know there are a lot of judgemental and self-righteous Christians out there. I've met plenty, and Jesus met plenty in His day. Also keep in mind there are some people who claim to be Christians, but they are only paying lip service when in fact, their hearts are far from God. True Christ followers should reach out to others with kindness and compassion, and I apologize if you've been treated with anything other than that.

Also, realize that we're only human too. No matter how hard we strive to follow Christ, unfortunately there are times when we slip up. We experience the same range of emotions everyone else does. There are times when we're irritable, angry, or we snap at people. Understand though that this is a reflection of our sinful nature, not a reflection of the God we serve.

As for the verses you referenced in Acts, I encourage you to study a little further. In verse 16, we read that Paul was greatly distressed that the city was full of idols. Sometimes, this is the way we feel. We feel heartbroken and distressed that people are following false religions. We want everyone to experience the same joy, freedom, and peace that we've found in Christ, and sometimes in our enthusiasm to express that, some of us might come across as being a little "pushy." For most of us, I don't think it's intentional. Our motivation is love for others.

We don't always handle things as well as Paul in these verses because even though he was distressed, he treated these people with the upmost care and respect. BUT, he did not withhold sharing the truth with them. He said, "Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you." Notice that Paul specifically points out the altar with the inscription TO AN UNKNOWN GOD, rather than any of the altars with the inscriptions of false "gods" they had names for. He was not validating their belief in these other "gods"; he was pointing them to the One true God who was yet unknown to them so that he could make Him known. As a Christian I can appreciate a Wiccan's passion and devotion to their worship. It's my desire though, that it be directed to the one, true God - the God you can come to know.

Paul then proceeded to share the gospel in verses 24-29. He tells them, "Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by man's design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man [Jesus] he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead."

Paul is respectful, but he does make it clear that the one true God requires repentance and that He will judge the world through Christ, whom He has appointed. That being said, they would then have to make a choice - whether or not to accept Christ and His teachings. To accept Him would mean that they would need to abandon their pagan practices because such worship is not pleasing to God. He desires a relationship with us through Jesus. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

I respect the fact that it is entirely your choice whether or not to accept Christ as your Savior. No Christian can ever make (or force) that decision for you. I share my faith with others because I care - because God cares. And, because I care for you, I just want to make sure you make an *informed* decision because it's one that will have eternal consequences.

Selective morality. Hypocrisy. Self-righteousness. A belief that they, alone, know the specific meanings and exact translations of the scritures in the Bible.

Most of them know these things because they have regular face-t-face audiences with God, wherein God reveals God's will and God's expectations and who and how God wants those that don't believe the things and the ways God wants them to are to be persecuted.

Exactly. If Christians honestly followed their Bible like they should they would be as peaceful as Hindus. Though there are some verses in it that are intolerant they are mostly in the Old Testament and those rules were vanquished by Christ.
