this book probably isn't worth that much as the vast majority of the books bought before and just after it was published were all 1st editions. There are going to be thousands and thousands of copies of this book.

It probably won't ever be worth much in our life time. The reason the recent 1st edition of the philosophers stone sold for so much was the small print run (500 books only 100 of which were available for sale) compared to Half Blood prince which had one of the largest first run prints of a book ever (only being our done now I believe by Deathly Hallows).

If its still in mint condition when your great grand children are old it may be worth a bit.

flip open to the front jacket of the book. look up the price in the right-hand corner. ok, now subtract its depreciative value (perhaps about 5-10 bucks depending on condition of the book.) So in other words, not really anything. And definitely not at a profit. It's still selling at pretty much its original price at franchised book stores, which is ridiculous, considering the final book is just around the bend.
