The Philistines maybe were philosophical. It means we have a mindset of how things come together and from that mindset we are able to draw conclusions. Hence we know for all practical purposes that the moon is made of green cheese. The most noted philosophers of history sometimes gave a clue as to how they thought and this is sometimes taught in philosophy classes. And sometimes not depending on the instructors philosophy of the subject. We all have a philosophy of life -whatever that happens to be- and maybe sometimes we are right and other times we might have to change our philosophy. I hope this makes more sense to you than it does to me as I think I'm spewing my philosophy. Good day!

Philosophy is the term that is used when a bunch of people get together and try to explain what life is all about, what really is important and how to explain things that confuse us about life. Being philosophical means that you like talking about the theories that you like and support about philosophy. Oh yeah, so a philosophical person doesn't really talk about known reality very much but rather likes to talk about what things are possible but unknown or unknowable for certain.

Philosophy is the "love of" or "study of knowledge" in Greek.

If someone is described as being philosophical, it may mean that in the view of the person making that subjective judgement the individual so refered to appears thoughtful and relfective, ponders over things rather then making a hasty judgement, enjoys learning and attempts to apply what he or she has learned to the manner in which they live, etc.

This phrase has also been used to denote a person who is rather bookish, with their "head in the clouds" rather than being a realist and dealing directly with the here and now.

may it all be well with you.

Philosophy means love of wisdom. Someone who is philosophical likes to think about issues from many different angles, particularly issues regarding truths and existence, and they often comes up with interesting conclusions. It's a compliment.

they think too much about everything...JUST KIDDING. Somebody who is passionate about the process of thought. They're open-minded, creative, probably well balanced with the left and right brain pathways...hmm, I think.

It means they are deep thinkers. they think on things like the why's of life, the how's of life and the possibilities that can be.

They are great conversationalists as well

In the context used, it means someone who is calm, patient or composed, and not someone who is versed in philosophy.
