DIEING TO KNOW: How to get rid of dark circles under eyes?

So I have semi-dark circles under my eyes, but my mom says it's heretic because pretty much everyone in her family had them. Sleeping DOESN'T change a thing, they're still there. Is there any tricks other than using concealer? If not, what are the best kinds of concealer?

Heres a picture of my under eyes:

There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:

Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

To hide dark circles, you can use YSL concealer or salmon concealer..

Sweetie, they are passed down. Theres not too much you can do. I will tell you that being around cigarette smoke, not getting enough sleep and not having all your proper vitamins make them worse. My advice would be to stay away from people that smoke and take vitamins. Other than that, try tanning if you want. My sister has them real bad and they come and go with darkness. Just learn to except the way you are. They really arent that bad, I promise! Find a concealer that fits your skin tone well. Best chances to find this.....go to a Mary Kay consultant!

I heard putting slices of cucumber on the dark circles helps reduce the appearance.

Most MAC concealers work. Just make sure it's not too thin, otherwise it won't cover very well. I use Studio Finish SPF 35 concealer.

Honestly your circles don't look that bad. I have them too and mine are also inherited, thanks dad! = ) If you use a yellowish tinted concealor and cover it with you foundation it helps offset the grey under your eyes.

you can get a skin colored stick that looks like a stick of lipstick (find it at any place from cvs to macys) just dab a little under you eyes and rub it in.

Source(s): my sister has a hard time with this too
