Do people realize the repercussions of nationalizing healthcare?

As a healthcare provider, I believe that nationalizing healthcare is an action of pure selfishness. People complain every day about the prices of their drugs. Yes, our new drugs are available at high prices, but the point is they are available. It takes millions of dollars to r & d a drug. If we don't pay it, no one will. Also companies have to recoup the money they lose when patients sue over advers effects from the medication. There is always the option to not take the drug.

People want their drugs to be cheap right now, but give no thought to the future of medication. Most of the drugs that are expensive wouldn't be available today if healthcare were nationalized years ago. When your children are your age, there will be no new drugs if healthcare is nationalized. Good luck fighting a superinfection with penicillin.

P.S. there are more MRI machines in northern Ohio than all of Canada

While some medications have enhanced the quality of life for some and extended life for others, the quick fix pill popping we see all around us is the most severe form of drug addiction man has ever faced. You talk about millions of dollars for research and development but what about the hundreds of millions of dollars for national marketing and intensive lobbying of our fixed political system.

And yes, it is good that MRI machines are readily available but you have lost sight of the importance of efficient utilization on costs. The investments in medical equipment must be recouped. If an area is saturated with a particular piece of equipment, its utilization goes down and the cost per use goes up.

Nevertheless, you are making some good points. But this is too important of a subject to stake out a position that precludes reason, compromise and cooperation.

Why are drugs cheaper in other countries? Why are drug companies constantly advertising on TV (that's certainly not cheap)? Why are drug companies constantly trying to push doctors into prescribing their medicines when they are not actually necessary?

Guess what, with health insurance rates rising, more people are finding themselves unable to afford it, causing a drop in the people insured, causing the rates to rise even more. It will get to the point that all the drug companies can make all the medicine in the world, but it will be useless because no one will be able to afford it.

    A person's health, a person's life should not be a profitable business.

the implications of it. i visit only say this, if it wasn't for Britain's nationalised healthcare device i might have dedicated suicide at sixteen. there is not any way devoid of the nationalised healthcare device of the united kingdom i could have been waiting to discover the funds for my transition to enhance into the real me, as my job place advantageous factors me £4 hundred a month and my Mum disowned me. I slightly get with the aid of and if it weren't for the NHS i might certainly have killed myself with the aid of now. and additionally you argument it supplies the government license to make issues unlawful to maintain down well being expenses. maximum international places with nationalised healthcare are unfastened international places. apart from drugs the government has banned little or no in the united kingdom to maintain down well being expenses. besides as healthcare the NHS additionally runs quite a number of community tasks, which includes some for the LGBT community. My question would have been concentrated oftentimes on my gender identification dysphoria, yet think of of what number human beings can''t discover the funds for scientific well being assurance and healthcare, how a lot of human beings prefer existence saving centers yet can not get them because of the fact of a cost placed in front of them. Nationalised healthcare facilitates human beings all have what they'd desire to have a fascinating too. And returned, it does not supply the government license to make issues unlawful to maintain down healthcare expenses. united kingdom government hasn't finished it nor has the Canadian.

you're a moron. Nationalizing healthcare is about taking a function of government that should be free in any part of a civilized society out of the hands of insurance and pharmacutical companies. Privatized healthcare turns a basic human need into another source of profit for corporate America.

you cannot rationalize when you are going on a gut reaction. Emotional reactions are what the libs are all about. They don't realiize that nationalizing the industry will only stop any new innovations from coming out. Somehow they feel the government will take that over. Look at how they talk about stem cell research, most of them are under the impression that it's banned. In their minds, the government is the only ones doing the research.

Think of all the JOBS that would be LOST if we enacted this. Also waiting periods for surgeries would be months, we could lose tens of thousands of Americans if this happened. It works ok in other countries, but in America you can get immediate treatment at any time, because our government will pay for your medical needs if you cannot afford it. Socialize healthcare is SOCIALISM!

i've been saying that for the longest time. Do you know that the companies that have made the biggest breakthroughs in medicine for the last 20 years have been in the United States? That has been because they have the ability to hire the brightest minds from all over the world to study and find treatment for various diseases all over the world.

I too am a health care provider and I totally agree with you....but seeing as this site is infested with selfish folks your eloquent description of the faults of nationalized health care will most likely fall on deaf ears.

Let the gov stop the greedy drug co's from charging outrageous amounts for drugs. In europe you can get the same drugs cheaply, it's all a scam. Rather we spend all our $$ on war cartels or our tax $$ on keeping us healthy? You cant be in health care...sorry
