How come my Gamecube won't read N64 games?

It keeps going to the options screen that it goes to as if you don't have a game! Wee of course I DO have a game! Ya see, I bought a Gamecube knowing that I would get backwards compatibility. wtf

Are you sure you don't mean how to play GC games on the Wii?

Just where exactly do you insert the N64 cartridge into the GC? I don't recall the GC saying it's backward compatible, nor do I remember the GC having a slot for N64 cartridges.
