Procedure to compare two lists?

Is there a procedure to compare two lists of string that I can download? (Perl, TCL,CSH, XLS macro, anythig)

There are two files:

The script will read the two files and return the items in list2 that do not exist in list1.

Any suggestion would be appreciated!

I do not see an FC procedure in unix. Is this an alias for something else?

Thank you

    Aha! a unix user!

diff is the equiv for fc.

I like diff because there are many options and many variants available.

    man diff

    to learn all about it!

    Source(s): diff -u list1 list2

Open a command prompt and type "FC file1 file2." If the files are large the output will scroll by pretty quickly. Try "FC file2 file2 > output.txt" to store the result in a file. Then type "notepad output.txt" to see the results. Good luck!...

for windows, you can use DOS. go to Start, Run, type "cmd" in the window that pops up, type "help comp".
