It's John Elway. Look at what John Elway did in his career

    3rd in passing yards

    3rd in passing TDs

    5 Super Bowl Appearences

    2 rings

    Winningest QB in NFL history

    2 MVPs

Elway made it to 3 of those Super Bowls with Nothin else on his team. Early on in his career he had nothing on his team and bassiclly carried his team to the Super Bowl. Ya he lost those but Peyton couldn't even make the Super Bowl until his D caried him in the playoffs. Marino has no rings, Elway beat Favre, and Montana had Craig and Rice to give the ball too. He had the most talent around him than any of the ones i mentioned. Elway was the best QB of all time. If he had Montana talent around him he wouldve won more Super Bowls.

    Without Question....Joe Montana

Montana benefited from one of the greatest offensive minds of all time in Bill Walsh. Montana was a great QB but a lot of QBs could have succeed under Walsh's West Coast Offense.

The Comeback-Kid won 2 rings without a Jerry Rice or a Bill Walsh and would have won all 5 if he'd had either. Elway.

People could make great arguements for just about any great Quarterback that played in this league. The most obvious mentions are: Elway with the wins, Marino with the stats, and Montana with the rings.

But as far as the "greatest" of all time, he should have a combination of all that, and theres one man who had done that: Brett Favre.

Now I could throw out all these stats like everyone else has done, but im just going to mention the most important ones:

    57500 passing yards to Marino's 61,351

    414 TDs to Marino's 420

    147 career wins to Elway's 148

    Only 3 time MVP

    34 4th quarter comebacks to Elways 47

    2 Superbowl appearences, 1 victory

People will oppse me and say "well he threw all those INTs blah blah etc..." Well can you name one All Pro or Perrenniel Pro Bowler on either side of Brett Favre's team aside from Reggie White? Did he have a hall of fame cast around him Like Montana did? Or Hall of Fame receivers in Mark Duper and Mark Clayton that Marino had? I'll give the Elway supporters their credit as he did take them to 5 Superbowls, but until the Buffalo Bills emerged in the early 90's, what team was really good in the AFC?

Like I said, anyone can make a great arguement for "best ever" for the quarterbacks i've mentioned, but the best ever must have a combination of all these things, and whether you hate him or love him, Favre has done it all. But in the end no quarterback is perfect, which makes this debate go on forever, but all of these quarterbacks have achceived unbeliveable accomplishments that allow them to placed in that group "Greatest of All Time"

You have to go with Joe Montana. However, Dan Marino was very good and Brett Farve maybe John Elway should be added to the list to be considered as well.
