How do I change the look of my desktop icons?

my icons have their own backround color instead of being clear and i cant change it

    Right click on your desktop > properties > appearance

    When you first log on before you call up internet explorer or what ever your search page is,Right click your mouse and a box will pop up click on properties and it will show you how to change you icons ,background, desktop and screensaver.
