Because we are tired and need more oxygen.

Yawning I've learned ahs no physiological effect for our bodies. It does NOT increase the oxygen intake whatsoever, and is more of a human to produce a nonverbal indication of his/her state of being, which is usually being tired or nervousness. There is however no evidence on exactly why we yawn, so these answers are just inferences.
