I was cleaning my ear with a Q tip and now it feels like it is clogged, like i can faintly hear, what do i do?
You know the feeling when you get water in your ear? thats what is feels like, i mean,i can still hear but faintly. I was cleaning my ear out with a q tip and i think i possibly might have pushed the wax in too far or something, we tried water, and we tried proxide but nothing is working. I tried draining out the water with another q tip and there is no sign of any wax, what do i do?

Never clean your ear with a Q-tip. By design the only thing a Q-tip is effective for is pushing wax further into the ear.
I made that mistake once, it was about 2 weeks before my hearing was back at 100%
Most people don't need to clean their ears, the wax will push itself out of your ear. There are some OTC ear wax removal systems. Or ask your doctor to do it. They have special tools that can get in there and remove the wax without damaging the ear or pushing the wax further in.
Some doctors will irrigate your ears. Other's don't like that method and feel it can be too damaging and not as effective so they use what is called a curette.
Bottom line, is don't use Q-tips, and the best thing you can do to clean your ears, is have them cleaned by a professional.Source(s): Personal experience.

Yes you jammed the wax in further. Hydrogen peroxide will soften wax but after you need to get it out of there. If you have a waterpic it works great. Just turn down the power and use the water jet to clean out the ear. First use the peroxide, let it sit about a minute. Use the waterpic with ear over sink. Repeat and eventually a heaping clump of wax will begin to fall into the sink. I have done this to many family members and it works great. If you do not want to do this you can go to the ER and they will do something similar. Or if you can wait just go and see an ear nose and throat guy they clean ears all the time. I once did this, saw the doctor and they used something like a small vacuum cleaner to suck all the stuff out. Good luck

stop using the q tip immediately, and don't put any water in! the water might get trapped within the clogged wax and cause fungal infection.
get eardrops from a pharmacy instead. i've included a link to the one i bought when i had the same problem the last time. but i must tell you even though it's supposed to soften the hardened earwax, it still takes a few days. i was deaf on one ear for three days! but it'll get better/you'll get used to the deafness =p
it says somewhere in one of the links i've included that you can use olive oil as well. not too sure how much that works though but wax should dissolve in fat solvents.
and if it doesn't get better after three days, go to the doctor, they'll use this pump to suck all the wax out, quite similar to how they suck phlegm from small kids' throats.
get well soon!Source(s): http://www.tiscali.co.uk/lifestyle/healthfitness/h... http://www.tiscali.co.uk/lifestyle/healthfitness/h...

You probably did push wax into your cannal, you might have to give it a few days you can use a syringe and a solution of 1/2 peroxide and 1/2 water to flush with just a little force, or you can use Derox kind of dries it a little changing the size and shape and making it easier to dislodge either way no harm done just dont; push the wax in further

Try putting "cerumex" or "debrox" in the ear and then plug with a cotton ball overnight. Then use a baby bulb syringe, gently irrigate the ear out the next day with WARM water. If that still doesn't work you will need to go to an urgent care for them to use a special tool to clean it out. Q tips are notorious for packing down ear wax. Better to use cerumex monthly.Source(s): ER/PA

The drugstore has these drops that soften the wax in your ears, get some of that and use it daily for like 3 or 4 days then take some warm water and have someone irrigate your ear, that should clear up any problems.

Flush your ear w/warm water or you can go to the doctor, but he'll do exactly what I just mentioned. Use one of those (blue)nasal bulbs they use for babies to suck mucus out of their noses. Fill the bulb w/warm water & squezze it directly in your ear. The pressure from squezzing it should allow whats in there to come out. Do this over a sink or get something for the water to drain back into. Thats that closes thing that resembles the tool the doctor uses. Also Q-tips only push the wax back in your ear. GET SOMEONE TO HELP YOU!

Did you know the specialists say not to use qtips in your ears... all the qtips do is push the wax in while only collecting a small amount on the end that you see.. they say use mineral oil.. a few drops and then drain. You could also purchase Candles that burn the wax out.. Look up ear candles online .. they are great. I've used them in the past with great results...

You need to go to the doc and get the ear checked. Q-tips are not meant to clean ears with. The ears are self cleaning. As new was is made it pushes the old wax out so you can wipe it away with a washcloth when you shower. If by chance the wax does not come out well on it's own you use a ear cleaning kit you can buy at the drug store to flush out your ears.

Never clean out your ears with a Q-tip, all that does is push any wax further into the ear and can possibly damage your eardum. You need to see a doctor, preferably an ear-nose-throat specialist, and have your ears flushed. Good luck.
