    Jimi Hendrix

    Jimmy Page

    Zakk Wylde

    Eddie Van Halen

Hmm..tough choices. I don't care for Eddie's style of music, but his playing is still tops. I kind of felt like Stevie and really the best Clapton is blues stuff, if I was going to do the blues I'd pull Slash and plug in Buddy Guy who is my favorite guitarist ever. I was also sorely tempted to put the Reverend Horton Heat on here, he's wicked, but there's just no room. Hendrix is the master of course, and Page is just so damned creative. But if you don't know that Zakk is the only guitar hero standing, listend to some Black Label Society, especially their acoustic stuff. Amazing.

    Add Frank Zappa

    Delete Jimmy Page

    Add Jeff Beck

Put Him Slightly ahead of Stevie Ray.

Also, listen to a guy named Wild T. Wild T and the Spirit.

He actually played Jimi Hendrix in a movie about him, and he's intense.

Your list is weak, man. Put down the VH1 and Rolling Stone list retreads and explore some truly harrowing visionairies.

    In no particular order:

    Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple/Rainbow/Blackmore's Night)

    Michael Schenker (UFO/MSG/Scorpions)

Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (Blue Oyster Cult)

    Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top)

    Yngwie J. Malmsteen

This list isn't carved in stone, of course, but any one of these guys' worst moments destroys anything Clapton's laid down on record since 1967.
