Is fatty liver a serious disease?
- Anonymous1 decade agoFavorite Answer
It leads to nonspecific hepatitis (not Hepatitis A, B, or C), which is inflammation and swelling, with elevated liver enzymes.
These can lead to jaundice, liver cancer, and liver failure. (We havin' fun yet?)
The biggie, easier said than done, is to lose excess weight if you have been diagnosed with fatty liver disease. Often the fat which has infiltrated the liver tissue causes no further problems once the weight has been reduced sufficiently.Source(s): My own gastroenterologist
