Some U.S money orders state "cashable in the United States and terrietories" in which most Canadian banking insitutions will not cash them. Ask for a International money order and that will save the hassle.

Ask at the US Post Office near you if Canada accepts International Money Orders. They can check and will be able to tell you if they accept them or not.

Of course, and a USPS Money Order can be purchases at a USPS outlet in Canadian dollars.

Scotia bank in connected to Bank of America somehow, so I would go there to cash it.
