The Holocaust ended on May 8, 1945 with the surrender of Nazi, Germany. The last few shots were aimed for some Greek Jews who were shortly killed before the end of the World War 2.

It ended in specific places when the Allies liberated the camps in 1944-1945. The official end to the holocaust did not come until the end of WWII and all German troops surrendered.

Further, the holocaust is believed to have ended a few days after Hitler committed suicide because the German's realized Hitler was dead so they decided to let the Jews go because Hitler died.

The Holocaust "ended" with the ending of the Second World War in 1945, though its effects lasted well after the ending of the War.
