in India How the word MISHRA came from ?the roots?

I know ,MISHRA is Brahmin caste in India ,but how did they get the name from ?Is it from the word MESRA means egypt ?

I don't exactly remeber the roots for this sername. But "Mishra" has nothing to do with Mesra from Egypt.

It is a more likely originated with Sanskrit word "Mishrit" which means Mixed. I have read about it but a long time ago.

I hope some one from this caste answers this question for you.

"Mishra" is a common family name in india.

It is supposed to have roots in the word "mishran" which is also the root for "mixture" in english.

As far as egypt is concerned, in hindi, egypt is called "missr"
