How do I make marinara sauce from scratch?

I've looked through Yahoo! Answers and searched the web for recipes, but all of them involve the use of canned tomatoes. Does anyone have a recipe that uses fresh tomatoes instead?

    This is how I do it.

    Olive oil goes into the pot. You add basil, chopped onion, diced garlic cloves, pepper, salt, bay leaves, and diced celery. Put on a medium heat and stir coating the veg and cooking until soft. Dice about 10 roma tomatoes and put about 1/2 in at this point. Stir. Add some red wine, about 1 cup. Stir. Add some more basil.

    At this point the tomatoes should be half cooked and there will be some liquid in the bottom of the pot. Add two cups of water and the rest of the tomatoes. Lower temp low, cover and let cook for about 2 hours. Stir every ten minutes to make sure it doesn't burn, adding more basil, wine and chunks of Romano cheese when needed. If it isn't as chuncky or red as you like it add more tomatoes, but not after the first hour.

    This makes enough for 2 libs of pasta.

    MARINARA SAUCE

    1 (28 oz.) can Italian tomatoes

    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste

    4 tbsp. chopped parsley

    1 clove garlic

    1 tsp. oregano

    1 tsp. salt

    1/4 tsp. pepper

    6 tbsp. olive oil

    2/3 c. diced onion

    1/2 c. dry white wine (optional)

    Place tomatoes with juice, tomato paste, parsley, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper in a blender or food processor container. Process until smooth. Heat olive oil in a 12 inch skillet over medium heat. Add onions and saute 2 minutes. Add tomato mixture and wine. Reduce heat and sI'mmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Yields 4 cups.

    MARINARA SAUCE a million/4 c. olive oil 2 c. finely chopped onion a million/2 c. finely chopped carrot a million/2 c. finely chopped celery 2-3 cloves garlic, minced a million c. dry white wine 2 c. poultry inventory (or substitute clam juice if serving with seafood) a million/3 c. minced parsley 2 tbsp. minced sparkling basil or a million tsp. dried, crumbled 2 tbsp. minced sparkling oregano or a million tsp. dried, crumbled a million tsp. minced sage or a million/2 tsp. dried, crumbled a million bay leaf a million (28 oz..) can peeled, overwhelmed tomatoes with puree Pepper to flavor In a medium saucepan warmth oil over medium-extreme warmth; upload the onions, carrots, and celery and cook dinner till translucent, approximately 10 minutes. upload garlic and cook dinner for yet another 2 minutes; do no longer burn. upload the white wine and poultry broth, stir, blend interior the parsley, basil, oregano, sage, bay leaf, tomatoes and pepper. Simmer on low warmth for 40 5 minutes till sauce is thickened, stirring now and returned. Makes approximately 3 a million/2 cups. Stir in tomatoes and liquid and all final components. hide and simmer approximately half-hour, stir many times. This recipe may be doubled and frozen for destiny use. I %. it in ziplock luggage and freeze it for guy or woman servings. Serve over pasta. Serves 4. JM
