I'm not sure, since I can't find a text of the poem online. I don't know who/what is staring; I am guessing that it is a person. If this is the case, she is comparing the person staring from the porch to a torch, so I would think it was D) Metaphor (direct comparison that does not utilize "like" or "as"). HOWEVER, if it is a porch light or some other object that is staring and is symbolic of refusal, it's A) Personification since an inanimate object cannot stare.
