Do "The People" want war?

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

-- Herman Goering (Nazi Reichsmarshall and Luftwaffe-Chief) at the Nuremberg trials.

Goering was one of the highest-ranking Nazis who survived to be captured and put on trial for war crimes in the city of Nuremberg by the Allies after the end of World War II. He was found guilty on charges of "war crimes," "crimes against peace," and "crimes against humanity" by the Nuremberg tribunal and sentenced to death by hanging.

CAN YOU RELATE THIS STATEMENT TO THIS ADMINISTRATION?

Update:

Well, at least the first 8 answers illustrates his words still ring true, even today.

Update 2:

To: .......... (whatever your name is, Answer #8). You cannot assume I have not served in this war or any other. Nor can you assume I have no vested interest in this war. I happen to love my countrymen (and women) and I have a dear nephew serving, whom I happen do love. You military types who think it is only YOUR right to the freedom of expression slay me. I thought you were fighting for MY freedom? You seem to want to take mine away just as much as ther terrorists do! What a patriot you are, indeed.

Update 3:

Faterider: excuse me for lumping you in with the others. I didn't mean to do that. Obviously you "get it." Thanks for the link. Interesting stuff.

Update 4:

Larry: Yes, all by myself. I guess I couldn't come up with something as interesting as your 2 (count them, two) questions at a Level 6. Man, you're deep.

Update 5:

gcbtrading: The point I'm making is not that the current administration and the Nazi party have similar goals or intentions. I believe they do NOT. The point I am trying to make is the citizenry's willingness to be led to slaughter. The willingness of "the masses" to be told what "Truth" is, much like the subject matter of George Orwell's 1984.

Update 6:

crknapp79: You have "no questions asked." Have you no original thoughts?

Copy and paste? It is a quote! How else am I supposed to write it but verbatim?

Of course it does, and yes, you can apply this to Bush. , only Herman, for all his faults, ( war crimes, crimes against humanity) , was far more intelligent than Bush or any of his Neocon half wits were. The Bush administration gambled on this war thinking they could pull it off, and make a few people enormously rich in the process and look at what a mess they made.

There is no correlation between the Nazi regime that wanted to dominate the world and create a "Master Race" and the Bush Administration that takes on the responsibilities of world security shirked by other nations.

you will not be able to, a minimum of not by making use of militarily could on my own. i'm not a pacifist, yet you will not be able to win a conflict on what a guy or woman comes to a decision to do at any any given 2d in time. The term "conflict on Terror" is merely undeniable stupid. i understand the variety to have a conflict on a rustic, yet how are you able to've a conflict on an action? The "conflict on drugs" is yet another stupid term. The "conflict on XYZ" is merely a slogan it quite is ordinary to sell to simpletons who have not any severe thinking skills. that is merely an excuse for GW to get the enormous funds $ he needs to maintain our armed forces and private contractors over there. by making use of ways, I artwork with a woman who has a son there as a contractor that works alongside the squaddies networking computers. She mentioned he makes over 150K for doing the top same difficulty because of the fact the squaddies who make approximately 25K. a lot for that LIE that particular human beings make relating to the internal maximum sector continuously being a lot extra effectual and funds friendly than the government. yet, I digress. yet, there is a thank you to get the better hand in this. yet, it merely isn't politically appropriate. and that's by making use of infiltarating the mosques with spies and computer virus the crap out of each and every of the places the place the inciters assemble. discover out who they're and then 86 'em. additionally, make it so the relatives of the guy who blew themselves up has to reimburse the sufferers. And in the event that they could't, they loose each and every little thing. Their living house, autos, $, their babies are taken away to be "re-knowledgeable". additionally, they ought to take the maintains to be of the bomber or terrorist and place them interior the sewer device, so they won't get a "perfect" burial. ultimately, they ought to make it a dying sentance crime to sell or glorify the terrorists interior the rustic of Iraq. do not you merely love the crap that GW placed us in. What a moron. I particular wish the Republican occasion provides you us a much better candidate next time. I bear in mind Hanity asserting how undesirable it could be to get Kerry. properly, i don't see how he could have carried out any worse. Infact, I probable could vote for him if I knew what I do now. All that $ spent could have bailed out social secure practices probable many circumstances over.

I love people who copy and paste. In acient times people lusted for war, because most of the men were soliders (i.e. Rome). In the "dark ages" war was again used to support the govt. and gain land. Now, no, people do not want war. However, let's rephrase your question. Do the people want the military fighting the war or do they want to fight the war themselves?

Yes I can because I went to the war and saw what we fought for and I support it 100%. You can't technically say that because you weren't there... you haven't served your country... stop complaining hippie!! Enjoy the freedom you have!
