I am not familiar with David Edwards and you have not given me a reference but I can state the task of the hero . To sacrifice for the benefit of others thus helping to preserve the good in people from harm or extinction . Some say the only heroes are dead but there are degrees of heroism and I strongly adhere to the belief that when we fail to take a proper defensive posture the extinction of good is possible .
this is evidenced by what some anthropologist claim happened to one race of cavemen that were completely wiped off the face of the earth because they were non violent and couldn't defend them selves from attacks by rocks and other primitive weapons .
