Christians, as per you claim "so called" gospel writers John and Matthew were really Jesus disciples?

If they were really Jesus' disciples, why isn’t the ascension of Jesus (pbuh) to heaven mentioned in Matthew and John? It was such an important event to Christians and why did they never mention about that in their Gospels? A Logical question needs a Logical reply and the Only Logical and Resonable Reply would be that the "so called" Gospel Writers John and Matthew were not Jesus' disciples. The disciples were different people !
