How often do adults get Leukemia?

I'm 31 years old, and was recently diagnosed as severe anemic. I've been taking extra iron for awhile now (by advice of my doctor) but lately i've been noticing bruises. I just found a couple more today. I'm super tired all the time, I get the recommended amount of sleep, and i'm still tired. Like today, I slept 8 hours last night, then I still had 2 naps, and I was/am still tired. Every now and then i'll have a pain on my left side (stomach area)...it isn't constant, so I didn't really worry about it. Sometimes at night i'm very hot, and have to have my AC on pretty low in order to feel comfortable. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow to make an appoitment, but I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were? I'm 31, and thought that at my age it wasn't usually normal to get cancer. My grandmother did die of cancer though if it is hereditery. My mom says not to worry about it, but I can't help but be worried. Thanks!

Update:

I have severe anemia already and am taking iron supplements provided by my doctor but still having other symptoms that are not associated with anemia. (bruising, night sweats/fevers, etc.)

    Leukemia can affect people of all ages. Children are often at risk as are old people. Many cases are diagnosed in both men and women in their thirties and forties. If your genetic make up makes you susceptible to this form of cancer then you stand a higher risk of getting it.

    I think that you are right to be concerned about it, and as long as your doctor is aware of your fears he should conduct all the relavent tests. Make sure that you tell him all of your symptoms and concerns so that he can explain all the possibilities and options as well as other conditions which might be the cause.

    Damage to the bone marrow, by way of displacing the normal bone marrow cells with higher numbers of immature white blood cells, results in a lack of blood platelets, which are important in the blood clotting process. This means people with leukemia may become bruised, bleed excessively, or develop pinprick bleeds (petechiae).

    White blood cells, which are involved in fighting pathogens, may be suppressed or dysfunctional, putting the patient at the risk of developing infections.

    Finally, the red blood cell deficiency leads to anemia, which may cause dyspnea. All symptoms may also be attributable to other diseases; for diagnosis, blood tests and a bone marrow examination are required.

They can also overcrowd the other cells, haulting them from performing correct function.

    Some leukemia patients do not have high white blood cell counts visible during a regular blood count. This less-common condition is called aleukemia. The bone marrow still contains cancerous white blood cells, and they are disrupting the normal production of blood cells. However, they are staying in the marrow instead of entering the bloodstream, where they would be visible in a blood test. For an aleukemic patient, the white blood cell counts in the bloodstream can be normal or low. Aleukemia can occur in any of the four major types of leukemia, and is particularly common in hairy cell leukemia.

    everyone has cancer cells in their body, but some peoples cells duplicate (different bod, different age) and take over, making cancer. some people are lucky, some are a lot less fortunate

    u dont want it to get worse so going to the doc, is a GREAT thing. i dont know if adults can get luekemia, but i dont see how they COULDNT. so i'd just say go to the doc, so then u'll know for sure. OK? Hope all is well, God Bless you♥

    I am sorry to hear about your condition but worrying about anaemia wont help. Regular blood checks will definitely help you to ascertain the haemoglobin and RBC levels. You are feeling tired because of low RBC/haemoglobin.

    Eat a diet rich in iron.
