    An opera company is a company that hires opera singers, production specialists, and all others involved with an opera production on a consistant basis. The put up opera productions and tours for viewing.

    The same is for ballet companies. Except they hire ballet dancers.

    You usually audition for these spots as performers. Sometimes they pick because of your reputation and have an agent. It just depends. Commissioned is a little more complicated to explain because is involves money. It depends on what is behind it or who you are talking about.

    I'm having a little trouble understanding what your question is. The word 'company' refers to a group of people who get together for a particular purpose. Therefore, it should be obvious that an opera company is a group of people who get together to perform a type of musical theater called 'opera' for the enjoyment of an audience. The same holds true of a ballet company. You don't make it clear what you mean by 'commissioned'.
