What does resp. mean?
I'm reading a journal article that says:
"Show that the associated space resp. the map has the desired topological properties."
I cant find resp. on google.

thats the abbreviation used for:
or maybe its a typo and is suppose to be "rep." then it would make sense if it was "representing"

Perhaps it means: Show that the associated space "respective of" the map has the desired topological properties. (Meaning "the associated space as it relates to the map".)
But it's strange that "respective of" is abbreviated "resp." so I could be totally wrong. I'm just guessing. You have to admit though, that my guess does make the sentence make sense.

Here, "resp." means "namely", as in:
"Show that the associated space, NAMELY, the map has the desired toplogical properties."

I think it means "as well as". I ran into this word in my math book too. In context, that meaning makes the most sense.
