Don't own a gun. If an intruder did intrude, I'd freak out. Then, I'd gain confidence and lay the smack down on him/her.

in the UK the law takes a very dim view of people shooting intruders dead (unfortunately) . having said this if i found an intruder in my home my first and only concern would be for the safety of my loved ones and if killing the intruder guaranteed their safety-then so be it.
