Was there an easier way of containing Saddam Hussein and protecting US interests in the Middle East?

Bush Sr. could have resisted the urge to tell Saddam to invade Kuwait in the first place and then betray him and destroy Iraq. Then Saddam's able to rule his own country in peace, if he didn't restart his war with Iran.
The only interest the US should have in the Middle East is how much oil the gas stations are ordering from Saudi Arabia or Iran. We should not be waging war on Middle Eastern countries just because Israel is scared that it might be attacked.

Saddam was already contained, and his military was fairly weak from the 1st Gulf War.
The USA did the best it could having several bases in the region, and allies that didn't like Saddam either. Clinton used diplomacy for years and it worked.
Now Iraq is a mess.

Yes, there was?
Instead of invading Iraq?
If its own people revolt against Saddam?
There will be peaceful revolution in the Middle-East.
Definitely it would have taken certain time.
But Mr. Bush do not have any patience.

Yeah, we were already doing it. We had US, UN, and IAEA inspectors there all the time. Saddam was a secular leader who kept the fundamentalists out and under his iron rule.
All we needed to do was take enough action to force him to accept inspectors. If he ever kicked them out, we simply needed to force him to allow them in. IT was working very well and Iraq had no ties with Alqueda prior to the war. now Alqueda has a branch operating openly in Iraq.

The crux of the matter is that, at the time when the US invaded
Iraq, Sadam was not an
"imminent threat". The invasion was a gift to Osama and a gift to Iran at a colossal expense to the USA.

Yeah there was. Look at how Clinton handled Iraq. They never got WMD's and they were never a harbor for terrorists.
Bush changed that last part, more terrorists in Iraq now than ever, and they won't be leaving anytime soon.

Of course! We had been doing that for over a decade before we believed some faulty Italian intelligence and invaded the place.

containment never works, only prolongs something!
you HAVE to solve the problems you get in life, otherwise they will go on and on and on.....!
