How can I get rid of crabgrass?

I'm told by the local garden shop that you're supposed to treat Crabgrass in March. I didn't know that...and it's already taking over. It's mostly in my flower beds.....

    Two ways:

In early Spring, before the soil starts to warm up too much, apply a preemergent like HALTS by Scotts. This actually prevents crabgrass from germinating in the first place and will work for about 4 months.

If the crabgrass has already germinated, use Ortho Weed B Gon crabgrass killer, or Bayer All in One Weed Killer.

pre-emergence in march, pull it up or use Round up or another herbicide to kill. Note; you can paint it on crabgrass or anything else to prevent damage to other plants
