What product rips DVDs onto a freestanding player that is not a laptop or PC?

Question

I know it's a vague question but I wonder what product rips DVD onto it's hard drive, therefore the need for the DVD itself in no longer. The info from the disc goes into this machine and you can play them. Sort of like an MP3 player only it's for DVDs.
