Are Jehovah's Witness the closest Christian religion to Islam?

They believe in one Jehovah of the universe, and Muslims believe in one Allah of the universe. Both JW and Muslims believe that Jesus was great but not Allah (Jehovah).

JWs love to consider themselves unique and they hate to have any similarities with other religions pointed out (consider the distance they put between their views of Christ as a perfect man, and Unitarianism.) I don't think Islam likes to be so lined up either! Both religions love to point out what distinguishes them from others - a recipe for division, of course. Both religions think they have been blessed with the truth about the path to salvation and God's approval of them, uniquely. Both religions think good works are vitally important for pleasing God. Both religions loath the doctrine of the deity of Christ.

So, I'm afraid I've upset both religions with that answer. I just hope neither of them accuse me of hating and persecuting them for pointing out these similarities, for if they do, that will be yet another similarity between them.

Jehovah's Witnesses are one of the few religions that do not believe that the Trinity Doctrine is a bible teaching.

We do believe that Jehovah is the Almighty God, but Jehovah and Allah are not the same.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe that Jesus was just a great man, but he is the only begotten son of God and the Messiah.

Jehovah's Witnesses to not go to war, or get involved in politics.

We do drink alcohol in moderation.

I really don't know a whole lot about Islam, other than they believe that Mohamed was an ancestor of Ishmael.

Islam & Jehovah witnesses to believe Jesus it is the key=and they key to life is the true path -a person who believes Jesus recieves salvation and a new life with the power of God to live it- In this there is no problem believing a person is changed from within and forgiven of sin. Isalm is told to believe the words of Moses, Isaiah, & Messiah Jesus some do many do not=I happen to be Jewish-yet I believe the Holy Bible and the Messiah Jesus closed it after announcing salvation by repenting of sin and asking him in to be our friend-that he was closing the book and if anyone tried to add to it they would have a plague-thus it can not be improved-it is complete Revelation 1:1, 3:19&20 & chapter 22 the last book in the bible.

a proof that the bible is not tampered with which some claim--is that the Jewish people who use their Jewish scriptures still did not change their Scriptures to take out Jesus- "Unto us a child will be born, a Son given, and he will be almighty God, and the prince of peace." Isaiah 9:6

the other part of this is if you reject Moses commanded by God need for a blood atonement for sins-your not a muslim who believes the prophets

Moses stated "The life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it upon the altar to make atonement for your souls." Leviticus 17:11

and fulfilled in the promised one of Isaiah = "He will be exalted and made very high. He will be marred more than any man. He will sprinkle many nations. He will be despised and rejected. All we like sheep have gone astray and the Lord will make to light on Him the iniquity of us all. He will lay down his life to make atonement for our sins. Isaiah 52:13-53:12

NO atonement =not a believer in Jesus or a muslim-but you can still claim to be of any religion

One glaringly major difference I see is that Jehovah's Witnesses refuse to go to war, whereas Muslims do. We don't believe that Jesus is God, but he was far more than simply a "great" man. He is ruling in Heaven as the King of God's Kingdom and his ransom sacrifice made forgiveness of sins possible. He is God's only-begotten son.

I would say not. If I understand correctly, JWs worship Jehovah, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as three separate beings, unlike most Christians, who worship the three "persons" of the Trinity as one God. Muslims, of course, worship Allah (God) alone.

I hope some Muslims answer this question; I'd be curious to see their responses.

JWs believe Jesus is not equal to his father, but using the term "great" is a little short sighted. Christ is their King and leader, while other religions deny him, since Christ doesn't become King until he second coming. They would rather look to men as their leaders.

Actually, Christendom is closer to Islam in that they use daily rituals instead of knowledge to keep people in the faith.

    No.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!

By contrast, Islam acknowledges only that Jesus was a good man and prophet. Among self-described "Christian" religions, Unitarian Universalism is nearly alone in pretending that Jesus was merely a good man and prophet, without divine origins or divine nature.

Ironically, Jehovah's Witnesses seem almost uniquely true in their Christianity. As with Jesus Christ himself, it is the preaching work that makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are truly godly and truly followers of Christ:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

The Islamic concept of God is much more tolerant than the JW one. Muslims beleive that faithful Christians and Jews will also make it to heaven, but JWs don't hold this view (as far as I can tell from the lessons I took).

Both Muslims and JWs like to dress modestly. Adherents to both religions like to use logic and science to try and prove their standpoint, although I don't think the results are the same.

I think (correct me if I'm wrong) both of them don't drink alcohol. So there are some similarities, but I wouldn't draw too close a line between the two in order to separate them from other faiths. I'd say the greatest similarity between the two is the number of sincere faithful people who do their best to serve God, and they share this attribute with people from many other faiths, also.

If Jehovahs wittnesses only consider Jesus to be great but not to be God then 99% of people who carry the name Christian ,would not consider them to be Christian at all. In that case ,if the statement you made is correct, they probably are closest to believing as Muslims. I know I don't believe anything of the sort. I believe Jesus to be the Messiah prophesied of in the Old Testament . I believe He is th Son of God sent to take away the sins of the world.. I know that Islam clearly states that Allah has no son and they say Allah is God. The New Testament says that he who has not the Son has not the Father. So we do not worship the same God.

  • Jehovah Witnesses are Christians and we have nothing to do with islam. we worship Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ. allah is a false god. allah is not Jehovah. if you want to learn about Jehovah Witnesses visit a Kingdom hall or www.watchtower.org.

hey, i wish i might want to help you with a majority of those questions that you raised yet i might want to opt to say that you ought to provide up being like Thomas also regular as “Doubting Thomas”. contained in the Holy Bible itself God suggested to provide up doubting and initiate believing in Him. He even suggested, Do you've self belief because you observe me? How satisfied are those who believe without seeing me!” (John 20: 29). For you training Christ has better than 308 names in accordance to the Bible. The secret of the Incarnation on my own might want to leave us speechless; upload to that Christ’s words of existence, helpful miracles, and effective works of salvation by the bypass, resurrection, and ascension into glory. Behold, God is my salvation; i will believe, and under no circumstances be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my power and my track; he also develop into my salvation. (Isaiah 12:2) Jehovah – “The self-existent one which exhibits Himself.” Into the desert of my lost way He contains discover me and lead me out. Into the wasteland of my barren existence enters Jehovah and makes all the wasteland a backyard. Into my lack of existence he brings His existence and to my useless senses exhibits Himself the only eternal God. So… It doesn’t be counted if we call ourselves as Jehovah Witness or Christians…actually, we are all toddlers of God and that’s what concerns the most! And all of us comprehend that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that lets comprehend him it really is real; and we are in him it really is real, even in his Son Jesus Christ. it really is the real God, and eternal existence. (a million John 5:20)
