The Advanced Research Projects Agency, America, funded by the U.S. Department of Defence created it in 1969 as a way to communicate remotely between computers of different networks in case of a Nuclear Attack. They eventually realised the benefits of this for every day life and as such the internet as we know it today was created and developed.
