Both are best in their own class and style. While Sachin holds the edge over Brian Lara in ODI, Lara holds edge over Sachin in the test matches.

Lara...its not even close. Yea sachin has all the stats and records or whatever but Lara put his team ahead of himself and whenever the team was declining he put them on HIS shoulders and guided them unlike choker Sachin.

What sachin did statistics wise is commendable but his performance in crucial games against elite opponents have been pathetic.

Don't be fooled by his statistics...he has all the meaningless individual awards but doesn't have the honor of being part of the team that won the world cup or any huge significant tournament

Lara is best in Test matches for his incredilble runs of 400* and 501*. I think he will drink 5 glasses of milk/day and 5eggs/day!!

Sachin is also gud. He was very good in those days (Man of the series in World Cup 2003) but now, he has lost his form.

It is better to ask the bowler who bowl against them. According to legend bowler (Mcgrath) rank Lara higher then the Sachin.
