Okay, if you're staying on South Beach, it's going to cost, but it'll be worth it. Senor Frogs (two blocks in from Ocean) is infamous for their Tuesdays. (Topless) - it's fun. Good drinks, good people. It'll be crazy. Good food also.
You'll want to check out just about all of the restaurants on Ocean - they're fun and vary from whatever types of food you can imagine and also in dress code. Lots of them have outside air conditioning, so there really isn't a recommendation - just check out the menu and pick something you'll like. Heads up - we don't do pizza or Chinese well. Miami's really good at sushi. (Except sushi maki. Sorry, it's a nice atmosphere, but don't order the Spider roll - it was so large that you really had to cut it with a knife - getting it in your mouth wasn't happening in one bite - I have heard they make a nice volcano roll though)
Pawn shop is kind of definitely aimed at teens. If you want something classier and actually on the beach (because Pawn Shop is downtown and nowhere near South Beach when you think about it) try something like Mansion for a few name-dropping memories (MIMS was there the other night, Paul Oakenfold was there a little while ago, and Pitbull along with others frequent - of course, Pitbull's from Miami. - also, Mansion is where Miami Vice was partially filmed.)
Check out the Setai (hotel) for a meal and classically chic/rich atmosphere.
The Victor hotel's pool is amazing.
Other clubs similar to Mansion with the same wait line and a little more low-key (think rich nobodies) would be Prive and Opium Garden. You're on vacation - don't waste time at the other low-key and unknown clubs! Nikki Beach has gone downhill a bit, but they have beds that you can crash on. We also have BED (much like the NYC one) and if you're in downtown, check out Allure.
B.T.W. - Dan Marino's is in Coral Gables, it's not the best restaurant if you want good food, it's a bit overrated, and if you're in that area, you may as well check out Merrick and pick out something classier than that.
If you're in the Gables, check out the Hotel St. Michel for a $50 brunch that has just about everything you could ever want in a vacation meal - mimosas (unlimited), crepes, and buffett style food with just about every food ever - and a chocolate fountain for the fruit. Desserts table, the works. Amazing and great seafood.
