Why can't we pick where we want our tax money spent?

If we have our taxes done every year, why not have a list of what programs we can send the money to?

    Blame the System.

Id be nice to submit Taxes & denote where to Spend BUT Founding Fathers need Funds for:

Defense, Courts, Trade alone then in the 1700s NOT the Monster Govt we have now.

Id cut down on fraud & abuse & waste BIG Time./

Denote on Taxes by tick marks to send taxes to X,X, X etc projects etc.

    Nice idea.

    Good question

    Bravo.

    Blame the GOP & Democrats.

    but Dems Love taxes.

    Dems Love BIG Govt.

& hate YOU (save voting for them)

Once you accept the premise of involuntary taxation, then you must accept that it's not your money any more. (After all, if the government can take your money without acquiring your consent first, then why would you maintain any illusions about that being your money? If someone can take your property without your permission, then they're either 1) committing an injustice or 2) the property was never really yours.)

Since it isn't your money, the government has absolutely no interest in allowing you to decide how it's spent.

This is why I am a libertarian. This is why I oppose all taxation and call it what it really is - theft.

Because we pay lawmakers to represent us and our best interest to do the same thing. When you elect an official, think before they get your vote, don't just vote for him/her because of their political party.

When you have a program designed to help an under-represented group of people, most wouldn't choose to contribute, thus only having major funding in things the majority is interested in. When you are a majority, this kinda blows probably, but when you are a minority, you know that the gov't is at least acting like they are trying.

I think it is best for the nation for our government to select where our tax dollars go, if only we could get those idiots out of Washington and get some real true representatives that understand and are willing to fight for our wants and needs.

Because the politicians couldn't misuse it then could they. No kickbacks, no pork, no favors to lobbyists...

The democrats wouldn't be able to overspend on social programs and ineffective education spending (beefing up the union)...

And 90% of the country would want the majority of tax money to go to stopping illegal immigration & both parties couldn't have that. The democrats want illegals to give allowance money and buy votes & Republicans want the cheap labor for unskilled jobs to drive the economy.

Our government is set up so that you vote for the things you want your taxes to go for on the ballot. Other decisions are made by representatives that we vote for based on whether we think they would choose the right places for our taxes to go. You can also give away your money to charities and deduct them from your taxes. So basically you do get to pick where your taxes go if you are on top of it.

Someone should passout a chart of what each candidate stands for at election poles, and you could vote for the ones who believe in what you want to support. People leave the poles without knowing who they voted for, or what they stand for.........if anything.

the reason we elect people is to spend the money on things we need and want. Why don't they listen to us? once they get elected they owe their soul to the money that elected them??? Pay back time!

because our politicans are paid off by their supporters. They don't give a rats butt about the taxpayer. They just want to line their pockets

Because supposedly the people who you elect to office are suppose to do that for you. However they don't always do what you want.

Because it is illegal to 'earmark' our taxes.

Believe me there is no way I want my taxes going toward funding forced busing or homosexual marriage.
